Giving Zoey a Bath - A Video!

Bath Time

Zoey continues to receive subcutaneous every other day and it has kept her healthy. In addition to the fluids, we've had to bathe her a bit more frequently because excrement is sticking to her hind quarters. Here is a picture of her after her most recent bath drying off in front of the fireplace.

Health Scare for Zoey

Zoey after IV fluids have been administered.

On Saturday, September 5, Jim noticed Zoey stumbling around as her hind legs consistently gave out on her. She still seemed well and alert and wanted to move around, but unable to get very far. We feared the worst and after some quick Google searches called the emergency vet and got her there as quick as we could.

A vet tech followed by a veterinarian were able to see her quickly. The ruled out stroke and instead concluded it was dehydration and her kidneys not properly getting toxins out of her system.

They admitted her and got her on an IV for fluids and antibiotics.

Zoey

Zoey joined us in June of 1996 shortly after we purchased our house. Zoey was a former farm cat. Her owner ran a dog grooming business and because Zoey was so outwardly friendly to the dogs, her prior owner feared Zoey may someday be hurt by an unfriendly dog so she was in search of a new home for her. Zoey was such a wonderful cat those first few years that we were in no hurry to get a 2nd cat as we didn't want to risk changing what we thought was the perfect situation. Zoey never had a clear name on the farm. Given her beautiful colors and demeanor, the name Zoey fit well.
